So in reading Gen 5, do you wonder how they lived so long?
my bible comm. has the following ideas:
* the ages listed are lengths of family dynasties rather than the ages of individual men
if they really did live that long individually, here are some ideas how:
1. the human race was more genetically pure so there was less disease to shorten life spans
2. no rain had fallen on the earth, and the large amount of water in the sky kept out harmful cosmic rays and shielded people from environmental factors that hasten aging
3. God gave people longer lives so they would have time to "fill the earth"

things to make you go hmmmmmm...and something else to ask God when we get to heaven

This is one of those sets of chapters (as most I suppose) are just plain interesting. So many questions! I couldn't stop thinking about one thing though...just how many people were there by the time of the ark? I mean, think about it, Cain created a city, not a town, a city! There had to have been thousands at least!

its interesting to me see to see who was related to whom. i have always wondered how they were so old!
